The essential oil is a concentrated hydrophobic liquid containing plant chemical compounds which are volatile (easily evaporated at normal temperatures). Essential oils are also referred to as volatile oils, ethereal oils, aetherolea, or simply as the plant oil from which they were extracted, such as clove oil. An essential oil is "necessary" in the sense that it contains the "essence" of the fragrance of the plant-the characteristic fragrance of the plant from which it derives. The word "important" used here does not indicate that the human body is indispensable or accessible

Basil Essential Oil, also referred to as Sweet Basil Essential Oil, is extracted from botanical Ocimum basilicum seeds, best known as the Basil herb. ... Sweet Basil Essential Oil is reputed to be used on the skin to nourish, repair, balance, relax, smooth, exfoliate and lighten the teint

Many citrus peel oils are extracted mechanically or cold-pressed (similar to olive oil extraction). Citrus-fruit oils are cheaper than most other essential oils because of the comparatively large amounts of oil in citrus peel and the low cost of growing and extracting the raw materials.

Basil is an important herb of the Lamiaceae family. Basil is an herbaceous, herbaceous plant with a height between 40 and 60 cm, which has a great variety in morphology and secondary compounds, and especially essential oils.

This plant's properties can reduce cardiovascular diseases, cancer prevention and maintain skin health. Like other herbs in the Laminae family, Basil is the source of ring compounds and essential oils, it has anti-parasitic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and antioxidant properties and is used in cosmetics. Basil essential oil is used as a seasoning in pastries, salads, ice creams and perfumes and is used to produce non-alcoholic drinks and toothpaste

Basil's exact taxonomy is unclear because of the large number of cultivars, its ready polymorphy, and regular cross-pollination (resulting in new hybrids) with other members of the Ocimum genus and within the group. There are at least 60 varieties of Ocimum basilicum which further complicates taxonomy
